Ellie Andrews, PhD
Ellie earned her PhD in Development Sociology from Cornell University in 2020 and a master’s in Geography from Penn State in 2012. Her research is mostly in environmental sociology, but she has experience in many other disciplines: Political Science, French, Geography, Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, American Studies, and even Entomology! Her most recent research was on beekeepers’ diverse efforts to “save the bees” – and their very different degrees of success.
Ellie has taught and tutored writing at Cornell, to both conventional students and incarcerated undergraduates, including lots of multilingual writers. She began working as a freelance editor after realizing that there was a broader need for what she had been doing for free for friends and colleagues for many years. Coaching is so much more important than line editing in helping writers produce work that they are proud of. She is here to help you create good habits (ones that will serve you in other areas, too), figure out which rules can be broken and why, and, most importantly, learn to trust yourself as a writer.
